Competition - Tell Us How You Feel About Your Water Charges Bill

I think it is absolutely criminal that we have to pay for 'water' which is provided free from nature. How stupid is that? 

I feel that we should all pay for our water all over the country BUT that would be after all the pipes would be replaced and we would not be paying for water that is seeping into the land as if there was not enough pour down on top of us. The water company should also show accountability every month, showing how meny pipes have been replaced and where. All monies should also be accountable to us on a six monthly basis. We can see everything we buy and and we have the right to bring it back if it is not up to scratch the same should be for the water company. Here's hoping, Dorene Mc Carthy 

Surprised to find this included.Are you a political movement.If so get involved in next election.I have to pay for my own water supply for years,why shouldn't everyone be the same. 

Anonymous: Once again another way to tax our income. And give all the lads nice bigs jobs in with high income in Irish Water. The population of working people have become like cattle being raised on a farm for slaughter, extracting as much of our income back in a number of ways. The water charges are just another tax., for Enda Kenny's buddies to live high of the hog, while the rest of us struggle trying to just keep our head above the water. Water charges already exist in 1998 the government introduced a 2% increase on vat and a 5 % increase on road tax and vet. Back in the mid 90s I paid £100.00 for water charges, and the following year they were abolished. Anyone that paid this charge has not received it back yet. So adding the interest to my £100.00 paid such a long time ago plus interest I'm owed a tidy sum. I will not be paying my water charges. 

I will not pay my water bill,although I registered with Irish water. Because of recent revalations of bonuses,threats by Alan Kelly etc. I just saw a photo of Elizabeth Arnett (Irish Water) Alan Kelly, and John Tierney(Irish Water) and all three look like they were in the dock and have just been condemmed to death (Irish Independent page6. 29th.July 2015). Phil Hogan made a bags of Irish Water and was rewarded by a cosy 250,000euro plus perks in Europe. He was booed out of Nolan Park at the return of the victorius Kilkenny All Ireland hurling team. He is now out in Europe to make a double bags of agriculture throughout Europe. Patrick 

don't mind paying for water just don't want to pay Irish water funding the big boys 

Not against the charge as feel we should pay for water as wastage but we are taxed to the hilt and feel it's time we got something back or free for all the tax paid to date. We pay property tax, car tax, USC, tax on petrol, additional charge on insurance owing the Quinn debacle, bin charges etc why an additional why not give us dentist GP for free or at least reduced. 

Paid it on arrival. If there is unfit water in the country & our animals drink it & we eat their meat this is dangerous & affects everyone. Most of our water is good to drink, yet thousands who won't pay bills buy bottled water which is lying in store for months 

...we reluctantly set up D/D payment with I.W. We had a meter installed in 2014. Recently we got our first bill. This appears to be for the 'capped amount' and without any meter reading which is unacceptable. We have contacted I.W., in writing, demanding repayment of this capped amount as we expected a bill based on the meter reading which we hoped would show our usage below that capped allocation having cut back on usage. We have since cancelled the D/D arrangement.
