The people power of more than 90,000 Irish consumers has once again succeeded in unlocking market beating electricity and gas offers in Ireland.

 

The offers, from Bord Gáis Energy include group discounted electricity-only offers and dual fuel offers.

 

One electricity only offer has a 12% electricity discount in Year 1, and €140 cash back off any electricity bill at any time. Similarly, a dual fuel offer has a 14% electricity discount and an 8% gas discount in Year 1, and €140 cash back off any electricity bill at any time.

 

The market beating dual fuel offer boasts a combination of significant cash back, and a meaningful discount which could wipe up to €337* off energy bills in the coming year.

 

Setting a new bar in energy discounting, every household in Ireland should be eligible to take up one of the offers unlocked, including:

 

  • Existing Bord Gais Energy electricity and gas customers, and
  • Households in rural areas restricted to electricity-only offers
  • The Big Energy Switch offers are also obligation free, which means customers can use it them to negotiate a better deal from their current supplier.

 

Anyone can access the offers by visiting www.onebigswitch.ie. The offers are open to all One Big Switch members until midnight on Friday 6 May 2016.

 

One Big Switch Senior Campaigner; David Liston said today, “These market beating offers unlocked by One Big Switch members are testament to the strength of people power.

 

“It’s proof that determined consumers working together can help to relieve the energy affordability crisis in Ireland.  

 

“I would invite householders to see how these offers work for them and if the numbers stack up, then switch. They can also call their existing supplier and ask them to match the offer.”

 

The offer is available to residential customers throughout the 26 counties in the Republic of Ireland who join the campaign and switch online at www.OneBigSwitch.ie by midnight on 6 May 2016.

 

Those who are not yet registered can still do so at no cost or obligation.

If I switch to Energia right now it will cost me 100 in fines. Also they supplied me with system called Climo Control. If they discontinue this if I switch mid contract would I then be eligible for your offer. What then could be my savings without your heating control system and with it. Bearing in mind the fines.

I am currently a Bord Gais Energy customer.I have a 7% discount off my Gas account as follows: Unit rate 0.04933,less 7% which is not a fuel discount but broken down between 3% Paperless billing,2%Duel fuel agreement and 2%Level pay. Electricity unit rate 15.02cent per kw.less 7%as above. The new offer applies to current account holders.Please advise the rates of the new offers and how the discounts are applied and broken down. Bord Gais at present: Day units @ 16.45 cent/kWh (plus VAT) and Night units @ 8.14 cent/kWh (plus VAT). Standing charges 58.75 cent/day (plus VAT) and PSO levy is 5.90 €/Month (plus VAT). Paying €155 per month on their LEVEL PAY option, but they are not taking into consideration a build up of credit in order to reduce the monthly payment amount, and after endless amount of emails and them still not helping me, I requested a refund for my build up of € 234.09 credit as they refused to lower my monthly D/Debit amount and said they only look at usage, not at how much credit you've got on the account. Its driving me crazy and you don't get anywhere with them. I'm desperately looking for better deal and lower day and night rates please?

They are extremely unhelpful when it comes to the level pay I find, I think it is laziness, but when I got my account with them I told them I wanted to pay X amount every month on each supply, every two months they changed it and I had to call back and change it back. Very annoying as only you know how you are budgeting over the year, this is supposed to help but when they keep changing it, it is hopeless. Interesting to see if anyone gets a response to their questions as I find Bord Gais expensive for electricity in comparison to Electric Ireland. Sometimes think these companies should stick to what they know.
